What’s your theme for 2020?
2020 is here! Are you ready for your best year yet? A great way to set your intention for the year is to spend some time thinking about a theme that you want to focus on this year. To help you we’ve put together a range of themes that could help to focus your thinking around what you’re hoping to get out of this year.
Leapfrog your learning
Do you want this year to be about learning new things? It could be focusing on upskilling at work and learning a new skill outside of work. This theme is all about maximising your curiosity and developing daily habits that will help you to grow this year.
Build something new
Do you want to start something new this year? Maybe 2020 is the year you are going to build your dream project. It might take the form of a side hustle, a personal project or even a fully fledged startup. This year could be the year you roll up your sleeves and act on the dream project that you’ve been putting off for a while now.
Be of service to others
Maybe 2020 is the year of giving back for you? It might be finding a monthly place you can volunteer or setting the intention to donate a larger amount this year to a cause that you really care about. When it comes to your career you might even be thinking about focusing your career energy on helping others.
Shape your mindset
This theme is all about working on how you think and act on a daily basis. The way that you think and behave every day has an enormous cumulative impact and it might be that this year you want to keep it simple and focus on one habit or mindset. This might be trying to improve your morning routine, fitness routine, not being so busy or how much time you spend with your family. A mindset theme might be trying to focus on being more present or being more courageous to try new things.
This is an underrated theme. When you focus on simplifying your life you have to prioritise the different elements of your life and start to become more targeted on how you use your time, and where you want to direct your energy. It is easy to just keep getting busier and this theme can be a great way to streamline, lower stress and focus your life.
Write it down somewhere you can see every day
It’s easy to forget your theme as soon as February hits and to lose momentum as life gets busy. We suggest that in order to stay focused you firstly have to pick a theme that’s really important to you, but secondly you need to place it somewhere visible. If you have your theme written down somewhere that you look at every morning you’re more likely to keep it in mind. Some of our favourite places are on the fridge, on the bathroom mirror or even on the dash of your car.
Set your theme, make it known and see how directing your conscious energy towards your goal will help to bring it to life!
